Founded in 1937 in Milan, MAPEI is today the largest producer worldwide of adhesives for the
building industry and one of the largest manufacturers of chemical products for construction in general.
In Asia, MAPEI has made its presence felt since 1989 when MAPEI FAR EAST PTE LTD was constituted in
Singapore as the Regional Headquarters to develop the company's business in the Asian region. Manufacturing
facilities began in 1995. In 2000, MAPEI FAR EAST obtained the ISO 9002 Quality Certification. In 2003,
the certification was upgraded to ISO 9001: 2000.
In 2003, MAPEI established the Underground Technology Team (U.T.T.) base for the region. UTT offers full
technical service and products to the shotcrete and TBM tunnel industry.
The second manufacturing facility in the Asian region was set up in Malaysia in 2001 to further boost
MAPEI’s support for the region. In 2003, MAPEI MALAYSIA obtained the ISO 9002 certification.
