Merten is a brand name when it comes to designer switches and home automation systems. Founded in 1906, it has
remained a medium-size and totally independent company ever since. Today, Merten has 750 employees in 3
plants, 7 sales offices and 8 commercial agencies in Germany, foreign companies in Singapore, Austria
and Indonesia, as well as more than 30 agencies worldwide.
Merten started as a manufacturer of electrical switches and wiring accessories and became the driving force of
the EIB (European Installation Bus) standard in 1987, having high competence in R&D, production, quality,
consulting, training and marketing support.
The main products are switches, wiring accessories, movement detectors and EIB components. Merten is ISO 9001
certified and all products leaving the factories meet the highest quality standards.
Merten Asia Pte Ltd was set up in December 2000 to be closer to customers in Singapore and the other Asian
regions.
